FBG Service Corporation Announces Management Transitions

FBG Board Change of Command

At the Annual Shareholders and Board of Directors Meeting in December 2018, with Wayne formally becoming Chairman Emeritus, he handed the reigns of Chairwoman to daughter and FBG President, Terri Gogetap. Other appointments to the Board include Tina Heisterkamp, VP of Finance, as Secretary and Treasurer; Andy Petersen, VP of Strategic Accounts, Director; FBG VP Jim Simmonds, Director; former Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle, Director; Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at University of Nebraska at Omaha, Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado, Director.

Today, FBG Service Corporation, a commercial cleaning and facilities maintenance company, announced several changes to its senior team at its most recent annual shareholders and board of directors meeting.

Wayne Simmonds, FBG’s founder and Chairman becomes Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Simmonds started FBG in 1960 and served as its president and then chairman for nearly 60 years. During his tenure, the company grew to become one of the country’s largest and most admired cleaning and facility management companies. One of his most notable accomplishments came in 1994 when FBG became an entirely employee-owned company. FBG continues to be one of the country’s largest employee-owned companies.

Simmonds was a founding member of the Building Operations Management Association (BOMA) and served as president of Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) in 1984. He has received several awards for his achievements and contributions to BSCAI, including the association’s most prestigious honor, the James E. Purcell Award in 1987.

Terri Gogetap, Mr. Simmonds daughter and FBG president, now adds CEO to her title. Ms. Gogetap began her career with FBG in 1978 filling a variety of positions within the company. Under the prudent guidance and at the request of her father, Terri became president of FBG in 1999. Under her leadership, the company has expanded its national footprint and service offerings. In addition, Ms. Gogetap has led the effort to implement countless new technologies to manage operations more efficiently than ever before resulting in greater employee and customer satisfaction. She was instrumental in FBG achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification as well as the Cleaning Industry Management Standard for Green Buildings certification.

Two new Board of Directors appointments include the following:

Ms. Tina Heisterkamp, FBG Vice President of Finance, Board Secretary and Treasurer. Prior to coming to FBG, Ms. Heisterkamp was a part of the finance team at Pitney Bowes where she helped in all aspects of financial reporting and analysis for profit centers spanning 30 states.

Mr. Andy Petersen, FBG Vice President of Strategic Accounts, Board Director. Mr. Petersen has served on the FBG senior management team over three years where he has focused efforts on sales growth and services expansion. Prior to coming to FBG, Mr. Petersen led sales efforts for a regional office systems provider and at West Corporation.

Heisterkamp and Petersen join these Board of Directors:

Mr. Jim Simmonds, FBG Vice President. Mr. Simmonds has been a part of the FBG team since the 1970s and is responsible for developing and overseeing national relationships for multi-site customers who utilize FBG’s facilities maintenance and management services.

Mr. James Suttle, former Omaha Mayor. Mr. Suttle is a corporate executive, engineer, and politician who served as the 50th mayor of Omaha, Nebraska from 2009 to 2013. Prior to serving as mayor, Mr. Suttle served on the Omaha City Council from 2005-2009. Before he began his political career, Mr. Suttle was as executive vice president and director of corporate development for HDR, one of the nation’s largest architecture and engineering firms.

Mr. Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Office of Academic and Student Affairs and Professor of Political Science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Mr. Benjamin-Alvarado has been with UNO for more than 18 years, serving in different capacities.

President Gogetap said of the transition, “We are so blessed to have had Wayne as our guide for so many fruitful years.
